awesome.
This was on a church sign I just read on my way to summer school:
"If your religion is not getting you to church, then it's not taking you to heaven."
Seriously?

My favorite ever was a few years ago when we had a really hot summer in Cincinnati and this church sign out by my parent's house read, "And you think it's hot up here?"
Beautiful.

Clearly, that sign communicates something of a works-salvation orientation.
But, there is something worth examining there: If your faith doesn't manifest itself in acts of obedience (such as corporate worship), what is it good for? Is it even legitimate? Alive?
James (Jesus' brother) kinda seems to agree with that sign. I think I do, too, but probably not for the same reason as the person who put the sign up.
If a person's faith (which I'm guessing is what they were refering to with the word "religion") doesn't wind up getting them to church at some point and in some way, then I think that there's a good reason to think that they don't have a saving faith. It's not a guarantee... but it definitely should throw up a red flag.
We are saved by grace along through faith in Jesus alone... but we're not saved by a faith that comes alone - along with that faith comes obedience (not to mention community).

TOTALLY agree with what you are saying about the words on the sign - HATE that it's on a church sign
Maybe it's because I lean way too far on the grace fence than on the truth fence.
I'm not sure where that balance is and how to do them both at the same time.
